There are 100’s of Ways to Kneel and Kiss the Ground

Let the Beauty We Love be What We Do

a pig farmer

I found Coleman Barks again today. I read a poem of his 20  odd years ago, then poof! This morning his name came in my mind upon awakening . I searched one of  Mr. Barks’ poems that helped me find this shrine.

In putting the two together I thought that good or bad, people are always so much more than we see. We often realize this at death.

A pig farmer’s prayer from underneath the ventilator…

“Remember my true breath from this life was blessed with dew, animal bedding, and mud. Oscar, my friend since the beginning of my life, the peanuts are all yours.  Find a new cribbage partner that doesn’t talk too much. And Louise, my sacred counterpart, we recognize the soul in each other. You know to do the next right thing. And. I love you.”

The contents describing the photo in this blog post is completely fabricated, as is the photo. I use creative works to arrange images to symbolically  represent the lives of our human family who have died alone from covid-19. We see and hear about people who are dying from covid, but our relationship to them is anonymous. Still we feel the loss. So I make the shrines from imagined situations, because, at least for me,  it serves as a way to symbolically honor those lives.
