Finding Guidance During Terminal Diagnosis

Upon learning about a terminal diagnosis, a person will begin to consider non-medical options that prepare them to live the rest of their life with grace and dignity.

A terminal diagnosis tests the foundation of the patient and their circle of loved ones.

We understand the healing power of listening and engaging conversations about death.

Doulas are your one-to-one partner. We simply sit close by and bear witness  to where you are in your life right now. We teach you to take actionable steps to help your loved ones learn how to honor the way that you want to live.

Together we can:

terminal diagnosis just rained on my parade

“I would recommend an EOL doula to anyone who has a family member with a terminal illness. In addition to helping my mother experience a peaceful death the support benefited our entire family throughout my mother’s final months. I will always be grateful to her!”

Your end of life care team can include:

  • End of Life Doulas – most available one on one
  • Spiritual Guides – part of hospice, if a patient wants this
  • Social workers – part of hospice, twice a month
  • Nurses- part of hospice, once a week check ins, more as necessary
  • Doctors – once a month to determine continued eligibility for hospice care

Hospice:

  • Is a health care option for people with any kind of life-limiting illness.
  • Means more health care – not less. Care focuses on support to ensure quality of life.
  • Hospice care comes to you – wherever you live.
  • Anyone can start the conversation – you don’t have to wait for a doctor’s referral to learn about hospice care.

Being with death, finding peace in the middle of it, normalizes it. We teach this to patients and their carers — by spending time and developing an open and trusting dialogue.
