A Natural Condition of Peace, Gratitude, and Openness

My Path Was Made by Walking

Lourdes And Tea

A woman walks through seasons, each day year after year. No one knows that she does this. It’s her  private thing. She walks with her hands in her apron pockets, a stone in each. She rubs them as she walks. Uttering with each step, “Thank you.”

Her throat is constricted with a tube now, but her mantra lives in her heart. A mantra that she walks out of her life with.

“Thank Life. Thank God. For this body, the senses, and my mind. Thank you that I can think. That I can trust. Thank you. Thank you for teaching me to be alone, and to appreciate my own company, which gives the great chance of being one with you. Thank you.”

“Thank you for my family, for the ones who love me, for friends. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for light, and nature. Thank you. Thank you that love exists within me, Thank you for this life. And this moment. Thank you.”

“Thank you for the ability to reflect. To be open to my heart, In life. Thank you.”

The contents describing the photo in this blog post is completely fabricated, as is the photo. I use creative works to arrange images to symbolically  represent the lives of our human family who have died alone from covid-19. We see and hear about people who are dying from covid, but our relationship to them is anonymous. Still we feel the loss. So I make the shrines from imagined situations, because, at least for me,  it serves as a way to collectively honor those lives.
